About the Patient Participation Group

The Bognor Medical Practice (BMP) Patient Participation Group (PPG) is an independent voluntary group of patients, carers, and GP practice staff who meet regularly to discuss and improve the services provided by the practice. The main aim is to ensure that patients are actively involved in decisions about the healthcare services they receive.

Purpose of the group:

  • Have a Voice: Patients can share feedback and suggest improvements, influencing how services are delivered.
  • Improve Care: Helps the practice understand patient needs better, leading to more patient-centred care.
  • Build Community: Creates stronger relationships between patients and the practice team.
  • Stay Informed: Members often get early or deeper insight into health initiatives, changes, or new services.
  • Support Others: Helps promote health awareness and supports other patients through shared knowledge and experience.
  • Make a Real Difference: Even small changes can lead to big improvements. The group works together to find realistic, achievable ways to enhance the patient experience.

The beauty of PPGs is that there is no set way in which they work - the aims and work of each group entirely depends on local needs - but they all have the aim of making sure that their practice puts the patient, and improving health, at the heart of everything it does.

Joining a PPG is a great way for patients to make a positive impact on their local healthcare and ensure their views are heard.
